My Favorite Saturday Kabarkada

Image
Well I never really thought I'd grow to love these folks in a short span of time. They are not the usual type of folks anyone can have because they're extraordinary. I guess more than anyone in terms of affiliation, I'm the least likely to belong in the group because all of them have common work, small groups or ministry that's why they are together most of the time. Yet every saturday since I was introduced with Mayette, Line, Mike and Lorraine, I'm finding myself in the same small group each time after service. We'd go to dinner at Metrowalk for the most part, either coffee at Gloria Jeans 'til midnight or videoke at Maru's. Sometimes I woud manage to bring the music team with me and it was a blast at Maru's. Then the circle started getting bigger as I would meet Jay, Sam (girl), Sam (boy), Chris, JC, Erwin and of course always with me is Poupe. What is special about them is their willingness to listen as a group. Yeah! You are right! it's the ...

Tagaytay Highlands

Image
It was a truly a retreat away from Manila when Line, Mike, Chris, Sam, Jay and I decided to spend overnight in Tagaytay October 31 to November 1. We planned to have a break from our stressful jobs but God has planned something even better. It was when Tita Cherry from KC actually toured us into Tagaytay highlands. She was joined with JC. It was a sure treat, even better than the last outing I have been when Derek treated us to Caliraya Lake for free! Although we paid for our outing this time, being at Tagaytay Highlands is simply priceless. The only idle time we had practically was the time we were waiting for each other at the beginning of the day. As we travelled, look for a place, ate mushroom burger, Calaruega and Tagaytay highlands sight seeing, it was non-stop adventure! My favorite part in Tagaytay highlands is when we went to the sports center and tried the velcro wall and jumped up and down the trampoline and stuck ourselves to the velcro wall. I looked like a clown with our ...

The Advantages of Companionship

Image
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Yeah, I wont be laboring on the thought of marriage as most would think would be the main subject of this blog because of my tittle. I want to talk about one of the blossoming friendships that God has brought my way and this is what I call my Sunday best buddies. Not because we are only friends on Sundays which is after church services but because we spend time after church sunday services at the Fort. At first, we have nothing in common in terms of interest or personality. One is shy and would only speak if you give her the chance to, the other one would talk non-stop. But as if divine intervention ...

My best life now!!

Isaiah 43:19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland. (NIV) For I am about to do a brand-new thing. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness for my people to come home. I will create rivers for them in the desert! (NLT) I just feel that God is about to do something new in my life right now. I'm reminded of this verse while talking to a newly introduced friend. She was trying to explain how she is obeying God by going out of her comfort zone and facing a new challenge so she can experience God's hand move. I gave her this verse to described to her that God is really in the business of doing new things in our lives. His works are not stale but fresh and exciting. A few months back I have a feeling of holy discontent. I am not satisfied with how things are going on now in my life. I don't mean to sound ungrateful but although I am sat...

I Am Confident of This

Image
I have been meaning to put this into a song and finally last sunday, God gave me the tune and I finished my third song. This one is pretty upbeat and has the influence of Fatima Rainey's song "hey". I love the lyrics and the style. This one was taken from Psalms 27 where David wrote that he is still confident that he will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living and therefore he resolved to be strong and take heart and wait on the Lord. Sometimes I feel impatient as to when all his promises will come true in my life and I kindda get challenged in my faith but in the end I decide to trust God's timing because he knows what he is doing. He is sovereign, He created me, He knows what is best for me. And this is my assurance, God's word, that i can put my confidence on the fact that I will see his goodness, not when I'm dead but in my lifetime i will experience and taste it. All I need is to wait on Him..not on the person, but on God. Soon all my song...

Great Is Your Love

Image
Uhmmmm, it was a bittersweet day yesterday, was pretty down and questioning but all became well when poured it all out to God. I was so refreshed and revived. It's all encapsulated in a song and I'm thrilled that God gave me this new song. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Great Is Your Love 7/22/05 Verse 1: I submit to you the longings of my heart I want you so near embrace me with your love Refrain 1: As I stand here in your presence You fill the emptiness With your power and your goodness Lord I want to say that I love you..... Chorus: Great is your love for me You captured my heart and now I'm free Great is your love for me You strengthened my hands, 'brought joy to me All that I need is you Above all else Above my fears Jesus you've captured me Verse 2: I bow down to you My Lord, my Savior, my King With you nothing compares I give you everything Refrain 2: As i stand here in your presence You stoop down to make me great You have given, your own life Lord I want to say that I...

Wise Words from Shinjoe

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Be careful of words, even the miraculous ones. For the miraculous we do our best, sometimes they swarm like insects and leave not a sting but a kiss. They can be as good as fingers. They can be as trusty as the rock you stick your bottom on. But they can be both daisies and bruises. Yet I am in love with words. They are doves falling out of the ceiling. They are six holy oranges sitting in my lap. They are the trees, the legs of summer, and the sun, its passionate face. Yet often they fail me. I have so much I want to say, so many stories, images, proverbs, etc. But the words aren't good enough, the wrong ones kiss me. Sometimes I fly like an eagle but with the wings of a wren. But I try to take care and be gentle to them. Words and eggs must be handled with care. Once broken they are impossible things to repair. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ When day is done I steal away To fold my hands in rest, And of my hours this moment grey I love the best; So quie...
